On February 4, 2025, the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos, acquitted and discharged former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, of medical forgery charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe ruled that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case, leading to the upholding of the no-case submission filed by Fani-Kayode’s counsel.
The EFCC had accused Fani-Kayode of forging medical reports to evade trial in a separate case. However, the court found no substantial evidence linking him to the alleged forgery, resulting in his acquittal.
