Understanding the Legal Battle: Court Stops Farotimi Book Over Alleged Defamation

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has granted an interim injunction restraining Lagos-based legal practitioner, Dele Farotimi, from further publishing, selling, circulating, advertising, or distributing his book titled “Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System”.

The court’s decision was made pending the hearing and determination of a motion for interlocutory injunction filed on December 6, 20241.

Additionally, the court has ordered the seizure of all physical copies of the book from various sellers and distributors, including Dele Farotimi Publishers, Amazon Online Bookstore, and several bookstores in Lagos.
