Reuben Abati criticized the Minister of State for Petroleum, Heineken Lokpobiri, for repeatedly making unfulfilled promises regarding Nigeria’s oil sector, including claims of upcoming $50 billion investments.
Abati expressed frustration over these empty assurances, stating that if Lokpobiri has nothing substantial to say, he should remain silent rather than making false promises.
He emphasized that Nigeria’s oil sector has seen constant delays and unmet deadlines, particularly regarding the refurbishment of the country’s refineries, and he called for transparency and accountability in the government’s dealings with the public.
