On March 9, 2025, operatives from the CP-Special Assignment Team of the Delta State Police Command apprehended a couple, Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Bogbon Godwell, in Okpe Local Government Area on charges of gun running.
During the operation, the police recovered a locally fabricated Beretta pistol with a live round, intended for delivery to a client in Sapele. Mrs. Uche Joshua, the wife, admitted to being responsible for delivering illegal arms under her husband’s instructions, having previously supplied multiple arms to clients in Warri and Sapele.
Further investigations led to the arrest of Junior Moses Ogedegbe, 30, from Useifurun community in Ughelli South LGA, believed to be part of the syndicate. The suspects reportedly purchased the arms from Onitsha and were transporting them to Kaduna State.
