The Nigerian Defense Headquarters (DHQ) has expressed satisfaction with the recent arrest of Simon Ekpa, a leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Ekpa was apprehended by Finnish authorities on charges of incitement to terrorism due to his involvement in promoting violent actions in southeastern Nigeria through social media, which are linked to the activities of IPOB and the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
The DHQ is hopeful that this arrest will lead to his extradition to Nigeria to face justice for his role in fueling violence.
In response, Ekpa has previously reacted to the Nigerian government’s efforts to extradite him, claiming that these actions only validate the existence of the Biafra Government in Exile.
He even invited Nigerian officials to attend a Biafra Convention in Finland, which he hopes will further legitimize his cause.
