Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, founder of SPAC Nation, has recently addressed his unconventional approach to ministry, emphasizing his commitment to reaching and transforming the lives of young people involved in crime and gang activities.
In a video interview, Pastor Adegboyega explained that traditional methods were insufficient to connect with the youth he aimed to help. He stated, “We started businesses, and we raised companies here. What we do is that we invest in people.”
SPAC Nation, established in 2008, gained attention for its distinctive practices, including the use of “gospel drill” music—a fusion of gospel and drill genres—to appeal to young people.
The church also created “safe houses,” known as “trap houses” (short for “Take Risks and Prosper”), providing accommodation to individuals seeking to leave behind a life of crime.
Despite facing controversies and allegations over the years, Pastor Adegboyega remains steadfast in his mission.
He believes that innovative and unorthodox methods are essential to effectively reach and rehabilitate at-risk youth, offering them opportunities for personal development and a path away from criminal activities.
