
Police Intervention in Benue: Kidnapper Killed, Leader Rescued
On December 31, 2024, the Benue State Police Command successfully rescued Deacon Emmanuel Tor Yaji, President-General of the Kunav Development Association, who had been abducted the previous evening in Tsar Mbaduku, Vandeikya Local Government Area.
During the rescue operation in Nambe Adikpo town, Kwande Local Government Area, police engaged the kidnappers in a gunfight, resulting in the death of one suspect and the arrest of another; two accomplices escaped.
Recovered items included an AK-47 rifle with 12 rounds of live ammunition and three magazines. Yaji was unharmed and has been reunited with his family.
This incident underscores the persistent security challenges in Benue State, where kidnappings and violent crimes remain prevalent.
The police’s prompt response in this case highlights their commitment to combating such threats and ensuring community safety.
