The Department of State Services (DSS) recently apprehended five high-profile kidnapping suspects in Enugu State. Acting on credible intelligence, DSS operatives located and arrested the suspects at two separate hideouts within the state’s forests. These individuals are believed to be part of a gang that has been terrorizing Udi Local Government Area and other regions in Enugu.
During interrogation, the suspects admitted to collecting substantial ransom payments from their victims’ families. The DSS also recovered large sums of money, presumed to be ransom proceeds, as well as lethal weapons and other dangerous items from their hideouts.
Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State commended the DSS for their successful operation. He acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the DSS, military, police, and the state-owned Forest Guards in enhancing security across the state. The governor assured residents that intensified operations would continue to track down any remaining gang members and dismantle their camps in the forests.
This development underscores the commitment of Enugu State’s security agencies to combating criminal activities and ensuring the safety of its residents.
