Edo State House of Assembly member Inegbeboh Eugene has refuted claims by the police and the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC) regarding the rescue of HRH Friday Ehizojie, the traditional ruler of Udo-Eguare kingdom in Igueben Local Government Area.
The monarch was abducted on February 3, 2025, along with five others. While the police and ESSC asserted that their operatives facilitated the monarch’s release, Eugene contends that the community secured his freedom by paying a ransom. He criticized the security agencies for inaction during the crisis and urged them not to claim undue credit for the monarch’s release.
