The Edo State Police have successfully rescued a 13-month-old baby who had been kidnapped by a gang in the Achigbor community along the Benin-Auchi Road.
The abduction occurred when the suspects invaded the home of the baby’s mother, Elizabeth Ojo, and vandalized her property before taking the child into a nearby bush.
Upon receiving a distress call, police operatives swiftly responded, and during a confrontation with the kidnappers, three of the six members of the gang were killed in a gunfight.
The other three suspects managed to flee.
The baby was found unharmed and returned to the mother.
Authorities also recovered a double-barrel gun, a cutlass, and an axe at the scene.
The police have continued efforts to apprehend the remaining members of the gang.
