The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has explained that its raid on a radio station in Enugu was connected to an investigation into an alleged N700 million Ponzi scheme.
According to the EFCC, the station was being used to promote and solicit investments for the fraudulent scheme, which had affected many victims.
During the raid, a presenter was arrested while on air, raising concerns about press freedom and the manner in which the raid was conducted.
The EFCC clarified that the action was part of a broader effort to bring those involved in the scheme to justice, as many people had been duped through the promotion of the Ponzi scheme on the station.
The agency emphasized that its actions were in line with its mandate to combat financial crimes and protect the public from fraudulent activities.
