Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has publicly denied allegations of embezzling public funds during his time in office.
In a recent interview on Freedom Radio, El-Rufai expressed his readiness to swear on the Quran to prove his innocence, challenging other former governors and leaders to do the same.
He emphasized that his entry into politics was driven by a desire to serve the people and not for personal enrichment.
El-Rufai reiterated that he was financially comfortable before becoming governor and that the accusations of misappropriating over ₦423 billion during his tenure were baseless.
El-Rufai also indicated that his allies were being targeted by anti-corruption agencies, which he described as part of a smear campaign against him.
Despite these accusations, he has chosen to remain quiet, leaving the matter to divine judgment, while also planning to take legal action against those tarnishing his name. He also hinted at a possible return to politics in 2027
