Former Kaduna State Governor and founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nasir El-Rufai, has expressed profound disillusionment with the party’s current direction. He stated, “I no longer recognise the APC. The quality of governance in this country today is a national emergency.”
El-Rufai criticized the APC’s leadership, highlighting a lack of internal democracy and the abandonment of the party’s foundational principles. He remarked, “The problems that led to the creation of the APC remain unresolved, but I no longer believe the APC is interested in addressing them.”
He further emphasized the need for political parties to elevate their standards to ensure the emergence of qualified leaders, stating, “You cannot afford to have illiterates, semi-illiterates, and cunning people as your leaders.”
