Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has criticized elites who politicize security issues on social media, asserting that such actions demonstrate a lack of genuine concern for the masses. He emphasized that politicizing insecurity is not a form of opposition and that those engaging in this behavior are primarily advancing their own political interests.
Governor Sani highlighted the state’s efforts to improve security through the “Kaduna Peace Model,” which emphasizes non-kinetic approaches.
This strategy has reportedly led to bandits laying down their arms and the reopening of markets that had been closed for over a decade in areas like Birnin Gwari and parts of Giwa local government.
He also warned that individuals who benefit from insecurity are displeased with the rescue of abducted victims, as it disrupts their interests.
The governor vowed to take action against those who exploit insecurity for personal or political gain, stating that while he is unbothered by personal insults from the opposition on social media, he will act against those spreading falsehoods and exacerbating insecurity.
