The suspect in the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson has been identified as Luigi Mangione, a 30-year-old former Ivy League student.
He was apprehended in Altoona, Pennsylvania, after a manhunt. Authorities allege Mangione shot Thompson multiple times outside the New York Hilton Midtown hotel on December 4, fleeing the scene on an e-bike before traveling to Pennsylvania.
Mangione was found with a 3D-printed “ghost gun” and silencer, as well as a passport and a significant amount of cash.
He has been charged with murder and related offenses. Investigators have noted that the attack appeared targeted, and evidence collected includes bullet casings with inscriptions like “deny” and “depose,” possibly referencing frustrations with corporate policies.
