Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga (Rtd.), former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has been released after spending 22 days in captivity.
He was abducted on February 6, 2025, from his residence in Tsiga village, Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, by armed men led by the notorious bandit leader, Babaro.
Following his abduction, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of ₦250 million for his release.
It remains unclear whether any ransom was paid to secure his freedom. Upon release, Tsiga was reported to be receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital.
During the initial attack, two individuals sustained injuries, and one of the assailants was mistakenly shot dead by his colleagues. As of now, neither government officials nor security agencies, including the Katsina State Police Command, have commented on Tsiga’s release.
