The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has responded to a viral video in which women accused airport officials of demanding a ₦5,000 bribe to clear their bags.
FAAN clarified that the individuals in the video were not passengers but cargo agents conducting illegal operations.
According to FAAN, these agents refused to pay the proper cargo fees, causing a confrontation, and there was no solicitation of bribes by airport officials.
FAAN described the situation as an attempt to blackmail their staff, denying any physical molestation or bribery, and emphasized that the cargo agents behaved inappropriately by damaging equipment and raising false alarms.
