The Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has called on electricity distribution companies (DisCos) to facilitate the swapping of prepaid meters without imposing additional costs on consumers.
This request comes amid growing concerns over the functionality and accuracy of prepaid meters currently in use.
The FCCPC CEO emphasized the importance of ensuring that consumers have access to reliable and accurate metering systems as part of their rights.
By allowing for meter swaps at no extra charge, DisCos can enhance customer satisfaction and trust while complying with consumer protection regulations.
This initiative aims to improve service delivery and reduce complaints related to faulty meters, ultimately benefiting consumers and the broader electricity supply chain.
