On January 30, 2025, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command recovered the lifeless body of an unidentified individual suspected of attempting to vandalize an installation belonging to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC). The incident occurred near step-down electricity lines at Yakubu Gowon Crescent in Asokoro, Abuja.
According to a statement by FCT Police Public Relations Officer SP Josephine Adeh, police operatives responded to a distress call and discovered the deceased at the scene, along with tools believed to have been used in the attempted vandalism. An accomplice reportedly fled before law enforcement arrived.
The FCT Police Command has issued a stern warning against acts of vandalism, emphasizing that damaging public infrastructure is a serious offense that will not be tolerated.
