The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has intercepted a significant cache of ammunition, seizing 488 live rounds of AK-47 ammunition concealed within two 25-litre jerrycans filled with palm oil. The operation took place at the Nyanya bus terminal in Abuja, leading to the arrest of 32-year-old suspect Nuhu Aminu from Katsina State.
FCT Police Public Relations Officer Josephine Adeh confirmed the arrest and detailed the method of concealment, highlighting the innovative yet illicit tactics employed by ammunition traffickers. The suspect is currently in custody, assisting law enforcement with ongoing investigations.
This operation underscores the FCT Police Command’s commitment to combating illegal arms trafficking and enhancing public safety in the region. Authorities are intensifying efforts to trace the origins and intended recipients of the ammunition to dismantle the broader network involved.
