The Federal Government (FG) has responded to Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II’s recent remarks regarding President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies. Emir Sanusi, during a public event in Lagos, expressed his decision not to offer assistance or advice to the current administration, citing personal reasons and a perceived lack of cooperation from the government.
In its response, the FG emphasized that it does not require Emir Sanusi’s support to validate its policies. The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated that while Emir Sanusi, like every Nigerian, has the right to express his opinion, the government finds it disheartening that a leader from an institution that upholds forthrightness and justice would publicly admit to withholding the truth due to personal interests. The minister further urged the Emir to prioritize the greater good of Nigerians over personal grievances.
