FIFA has enlisted Coldplay’s lead vocalist, Chris Martin, to curate the inaugural halftime show for the 2026 World Cup final, emulating the Super Bowl’s entertainment format.
The final is scheduled for July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, which will be temporarily renamed ‘New York New Jersey Stadium’ for the event.
Collaborating with Global Citizen, Martin and Coldplay’s manager, Phil Harvey, are tasked with selecting artists for the halftime performance.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed enthusiasm about this development, stating it will be a “historic moment for the FIFA World Cup and a show befitting the biggest sporting event in the world.”
In addition to the halftime show, FIFA plans to transform New York City’s Times Square into a festival hub during the final weekend, enhancing the celebratory atmosphere surrounding the event.
