FIFA President Gianni Infantino has announced that the 2026 World Cup final will feature a Super Bowl-style halftime show, marking a historic first for the tournament.
The final is scheduled for July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, which will be temporarily renamed ‘New York New Jersey Stadium’ for the event.
To curate the performance, Infantino has enlisted Chris Martin and Phil Harvey of the British band Coldplay.
The halftime show aims to broaden the World Cup’s appeal by incorporating high-profile entertainment, following the successful model of the NFL’s Super Bowl performances.
In addition to the halftime show, FIFA plans to transform Times Square into a festival hub during the final weekend, enhancing the celebratory atmosphere surrounding the event.
This initiative reflects FIFA’s efforts to innovate and elevate the World Cup experience for fans worldwide.
