A Florida woman, Sarah Boone, has been sentenced to life in prison for the 2020 death of her boyfriend, Jorge Torres Jr. Boone, 47, was convicted of second-degree murder after zipping Torres inside a suitcase during what she claimed was a drunken game of hide-and-seek.
She recorded videos showing Torres pleading for help, saying he couldn’t breathe, while Boone taunted him, attributing his situation to his past behavior.
Boone claimed she left him in the suitcase overnight, believing he could get out on his own, but Torres suffocated.
During her trial, Boone alleged she acted out of fear due to past abuse, citing “battered spouse syndrome,” but prosecutors argued her actions and video evidence contradicted her claims of self-defense. Her lack of remorse led to the life sentence being imposed.
