A popular foreign contractor has been arrested in Abuja for allegedly vandalizing streetlights.
This incident is part of a larger crackdown on vandalism of public infrastructure, which has become a significant issue in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The contractor reportedly damaged the streetlights to create a justification for obtaining contracts to repair or replace them.
Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has emphasized the need to protect public assets, highlighting that these streetlights were installed with taxpayer money for the safety and convenience of residents. Security agencies have been directed to pursue and prosecute those involved in such criminal activities.
