Freed Ondo Kidnap Victim Reveals Shocking Ordeal

Ondo Abduction: Victim’s Tale of Captors and Local Aid

Olanrewaju Oyeleye, a businessman and farmer from Ondo State, Nigeria, recently recounted his harrowing experience of abduction on the very day his wife gave birth to twins. While en route to his farm in Abo-Ashakin, Akure North Local Government Area, Oyeleye was kidnapped by armed assailants.

He endured severe physical abuse during his captivity and was ultimately released after a ransom was paid. Oyeleye revealed that his captors claimed to have influential backers, or “godfathers,” and received assistance from local collaborators, which facilitated their operations.

This incident underscores the escalating security challenges in Ondo State, where kidnapping has become increasingly prevalent. The involvement of local accomplices and the assertion of protection from powerful figures by the kidnappers highlight the complexity of addressing this menace.

It calls for a comprehensive and coordinated approach from both security agencies and community stakeholders to effectively combat and prevent such criminal activities.

In a related development, Prince Ojajuni, an Afenifere youth leader, also shared his ordeal of being kidnapped in Ondo State. He described enduring gunshot wounds, frequent beatings, and witnessing the mistreatment of fellow captives.

Ojajuni alleged that the kidnappers operated with sophisticated weaponry and had established numerous camps across the Southwest region, indicating a well-organized network.
