Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has established a seven-member Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the recent violence, killings, and destruction at local government headquarters in the state.
The violence, which occurred in early October 2024, involved attacks on secretariats in Emohua, Eleme, and Ikwerre local governments, leaving several people dead.
The commission is tasked with determining the causes of the violence, identifying those responsible, and evaluating the effectiveness of the security response.
Chaired by Justice Ibiwengi Roseline Minakiri, the panel has one month to submit its findings, which will include recommendations for sanctions and strategies to prevent future incidents.
Governor Fubara emphasized that no individual, regardless of status, would be exempt from justice. The initiative aims to restore order and prevent further destruction in the state.
