Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has expressed strong disapproval of the conduct of 27 state lawmakers aligned with former Governor Nyesom Wike.
These legislators recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Governor Fubara contends that their actions have led to the forfeiture of their legislative seats, emphasizing that there is no possibility for their reinstatement.
Addressing the situation after signing the 2025 budget, Governor Fubara stated, “We have given them enough room for peace. There is no governor in Nigeria who can take the kind of insult I took from those set of people.”
He further clarified that the only legitimate legislative body in the state is the Assembly led by Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo, dismissing claims of a factional assembly.
Governor Fubara’s firm stance underscores his commitment to maintaining order and discipline within the state’s political framework.
