Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has publicly urged his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, to relinquish control over the state’s political affairs for the sake of peace.
During an appearance on Channels Television, Fubara emphasized that Wike, now serving as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, must let go and recognize that “you can’t win all fights.
” He called on Wike to prioritize the well-being of Rivers State and its people, stressing that the ongoing political tension could harm the state.
Fubara also expressed that despite his efforts to maintain peace, including personal attempts to reconcile, tensions have escalated, especially following recent local government elections.
Violent clashes erupted, and several local government secretariats were set ablaze as political turmoil continued.
Fubara has urged that now is the time for governance, not conflict, and called on Wike and others to focus on supporting the state rather than engaging in further disputes
