Former President Muhammadu Buhari has clarified that he does not own the plot of land recently revoked by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) in Abuja.
His spokesperson, Garba Shehu, explained that the land was allocated to the Muhammadu Buhari Foundation, a non-profit organization established by individuals close to the former president.
Shehu noted that the Foundation encountered challenges with the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), which issued an unusually high bill for the certificate of occupancy, significantly higher than those given to similar organizations.
This discrepancy led to bureaucratic obstacles, culminating in the land’s revocation.
Additionally, Shehu highlighted that during his presidency, Buhari declined an offer for land allocation in Abuja, stating that he already possessed a plot and that the opportunity should be extended to those without land.
