Recent developments have cast doubt on the official accounts of the deaths of actor Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa. According to reports, Dr. Josiah Child, who oversees Cloudberry Health in Santa Fe, stated that Betsy contacted his clinic on February 12, 2025, to schedule an appointment for Gene.
This date contradicts the findings of the Santa Fe medical examiner, who determined that Betsy passed away from hantavirus on February 11.
Adding to the complexity, Gene Hackman, 95, was later found deceased due to hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, with Alzheimer’s disease as a contributing factor. Additionally, one of their dogs was discovered dead from starvation, while the other was found alive but trapped.
