Former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, now managing Benin Republic, has voiced his strong support for Ademola Lookman to win the 2024 African Player of the Year award.
He described Lookman as a “fantastic player” and praised his performances for both club and country.
Rohr acknowledged Lookman’s consistency and impact, particularly highlighting his contributions to the Super Eagles and Atalanta.
Rohr mentioned this ahead of Benin’s crucial AFCON 2025 qualifier against Nigeria, expressing admiration for Lookman while jokingly hoping the player wouldn’t score against his team again, as he did in a prior match.
Lookman is among the nominees for the award, competing with stars like Victor Osimhen, Achraf Hakimi, and William Troost-Ekong.
