Ghana’s State of the Nation Address: Inside the Incident of Akufo-Addo’s ADC Collapsing

During President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s final State of the Nation Address on January 3, 2025, his Aide-De-Camp (ADC), Colonel Isaac Amponsah, collapsed in Parliament.

The incident occurred mid-speech, causing a brief interruption. Medical personnel promptly attended to Colonel Amponsah, who regained consciousness and was escorted out of the chamber.

The President continued his address after the brief pause. Colonel Amponsah, appointed as the President’s ADC in February 2023, has served in various senior military positions, including Chief Instructor at the Military Training Academy and roles at the Defence Intelligence Unit.
