Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has confirmed that former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, remains a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today program, Governor Sule stated, “El-Rufai has not left our party; he is still part of our party.”
This clarification comes amid speculation following the Senate’s rejection of El-Rufai’s ministerial nomination in August 2023.
Governor Sule emphasized that the APC governors’ forum, known as the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), has limited influence over such federal appointments, noting, “The PGF can’t do anything about the ministerial nomination ordeal of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai.”
Governor Sule also addressed rumors suggesting that El-Rufai might join the opposition, describing such claims as premature and unfounded. He reiterated that El-Rufai remains committed to the APC and continues to be an integral part of the party’s structure.
