On Monday, April 7, 2025, gunmen attacked Hwrra Village in the Kwall District of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State, resulting in the deaths of three individuals: Yakubu Mali (48), Mangwa Ive (40), and Ezra Riti.
This incident is part of a troubling pattern of violence in Plateau State. Just days earlier, on April 2, multiple villages in Bokkos Local Government Area, including Hurti, Josho, and Daffo, were attacked, leading to over 40 fatalities and the displacement of approximately 1,000 residents.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has reported that these attacks have collectively resulted in at least 52 deaths and the displacement of nearly 2,000 individuals.
Local leaders and community representatives have expressed deep concern over the escalating violence and have called for increased security measures to protect vulnerable communities. The Plateau State government has condemned the attacks and pledged to enhance security efforts to prevent further incidents.
