In a recent attack on Farin Dutse, a community in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, at least six individuals, including a pregnant woman, were killed, and several others were injured. The assailants, suspected to be herdsmen, launched the attack in the early hours of March 10, 2025, around 3:00 am, burning down numerous houses and displacing many residents.
The violence reportedly stemmed from a dispute over a mango tree, which led to a fatal altercation the previous day. The situation remains tense, with authorities urging for calm and promising further investigations.
This incident is part of a broader pattern of farmer-herder conflicts in the region. Just days earlier, on March 9, 2025, suspected armed herdsmen attacked Mbagena community in Benue State, resulting in the deaths of at least 11 people, including a pregnant woman, and the destruction of homes and properties.
These recurring clashes have raised significant concerns among residents and local authorities, prompting calls for increased security measures and conflict resolution strategies to address the underlying issues fueling such violence.
