The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Illela Border Command in Sokoto State, has apprehended a suspected human trafficker, Sirajo Illela, and rescued two female victims en route to Libya. Sirajo Illela had been on the wanted list of both the NIS and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for his involvement in facilitating human trafficking through illegal routes at the Illela border.
The rescued women are currently receiving care and support, while authorities continue their investigation into the trafficking network. This arrest underscores the ongoing efforts by Nigerian authorities to combat human trafficking and protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation.
