The Federal Government has annulled recent appointments at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik), including that of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bernard Odoh, and the university’s registrar.
This action followed the violation of a directive from the Federal Ministry of Education, which mandated reconciliation with aggrieved parties within the institution before making any such appointments.
The appointments, carried out by the university’s governing council on October 29, 2024, proceeded without the involvement of ministry representatives and other stakeholders, contravening agreed protocols.
The Federal Ministry has directed the university to suspend further appointments until a new Minister of Education assumes office.
