INEC Declares Aiyedatiwa Winner: Impact on Ondo’s Political Landscape

Breaking News: Aiyedatiwa Wins Ondo Gubernatorial Election – INEC Announces

Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been declared the winner of the 2024 Ondo State gubernatorial election.

INEC’s Returning Officer, Professor Akinwumi Olayemi Durotimi, announced that Aiyedatiwa secured 366,781 votes, defeating his closest rivals Ajayi Agboola of the PDP, who garnered 117,845 votes, and Olorunfemi Festus of the Labour Party, who received 1,162 votes.

This victory signifies continuity in APC’s governance in Ondo State, as Aiyedatiwa first assumed office in December 2023, succeeding the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

The peaceful conduct of the election and swift release of results were highlighted as commendable aspects of the process.
