The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially presented certificates of return to Edo State Governor-elect, Monday Okpebholo, and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, on September 26, 2024.
This ceremony, held at INEC’s headquarters in Abuja, follows their victory in the September 21 gubernatorial election. Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, secured 291,667 votes, defeating his closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 247,274 votes.
With this presentation, Okpebholo is set to succeed Governor Godwin Obaseki in November 2024.
