On March 18, 2025, two members of Nigeria’s House of Representatives defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing internal divisions within the PDP as their reason.
The lawmakers are Husseini Mohammed Jallo, representing Igabi Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, and Adamu Tanko, representing Suleja/Tara/Gurara Federal Constituency of Niger State.
Their defection letters were read by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas during Tuesday’s plenary session. Both legislators expressed that their political ideologies now align more closely with those of the APC.
This development adds to a series of recent defections from the PDP to the APC. Notably, on October 2, Chris Nkwonta, representing Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency of Abia State, also left the PDP for the APC.
