Israel Orders Gaza Evacuation Amid Military Expansion

​On April 2, 2025, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced a significant expansion of Israel’s military operations in the Gaza Strip, aiming to seize “large areas” of the territory. Katz stated that these areas would be incorporated into Israel’s security zones, with the operation accompanied by large-scale evacuations of the Gazan population from the affected regions.

The offensive has intensified in areas such as Khan Younis and Rafah, resulting in significant casualties. Israeli airstrikes targeted a United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) facility in Jabalia, killing at least 15 people, including nine children.

This military escalation follows the breakdown of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in March 2025.
