A woman and her children narrowly escaped death in Jigawa State when a vehicle veered off the road and crashed into their home, leading to a fire that destroyed four houses.
The incident occurred early Sunday morning on Elpies Street, Mobile Quarters, Dutse. Two men, identified as Muhammad Galadima (32) and Abdullahi Abubakar Sadiq (41), were reportedly driving a Toyota Corolla under the influence of alcohol when they lost control and rammed into the residential building.
The impact caused a fire that engulfed the vehicle and the house, subsequently spreading to three neighboring houses, all of which were burned to ashes. Fortunately, due to the prompt response of the police and firefighters, no lives were lost.
Both suspects have been arrested and are in custody as the investigation continues. Preliminary findings indicate that Galadima, the vehicle owner, knowingly allowed Sadiq, who admitted he did not know how to drive, to operate the car.
