Jigawa’s Judiciary Shake-Up: Sharia Court Judges Sanctioned

Breaking: Jigawa Sanctions Three Sharia Court Judges and Sacks Officers

The Jigawa State Judicial Service Commission has taken disciplinary action against several judicial officers following findings of misconduct. An Upper Sharia Court judge, Safiyanu Muhammad Dabi, was compulsorily retired after being found guilty of accepting a ₦50,000 bribe from a litigant in Birnin Kudu.

In addition to Judge Dabi’s retirement, the Commission has appointed four senior staff members to various positions within the state’s judiciary.

These appointments include Aliyu Muhammed as Deputy Chief Registrar II of the Sharia Court of Appeal, Abdulrashid Alhassan as Chief Inspector of the Sharia Court of Appeal, Muhammad Lawan as Zonal Deputy Chief Inspector, and Muhammad Adamu as Zonal Deputy Chief Inspector.

The Commission has issued a stern warning to all judicial staff to avoid any form of corruption or bribery, emphasizing its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the judiciary in Jigawa State. It has reaffirmed its determination to address any misconduct among its personnel to ensure the proper administration of justice.

This action aligns with similar measures taken in other states to uphold judicial integrity. For instance, the Kano State Judicial Service Commission recently sanctioned two Sharia Court judges and eight other judicial staff over allegations of misconduct.
