Tragic Loss: Jorge Bolano Passes Away at 47

​Former Colombian international midfielder Jorge Eladio Bolaño has tragically passed away at the age of 47. According to reports, Bolaño suffered a heart attack while attending a relative’s birthday celebration in Cúcuta, Colombia. He was rushed to a nearby clinic but sadly did not survive.

Bolaño had a distinguished football career, playing for several clubs in Colombia and Italy, including Atlético Junior, Parma, Sampdoria, Lecce, and Modena. He was part of the Parma team that won the Coppa Italia during the 2001/02 season. Internationally, Bolaño earned 36 caps for the Colombian national team and was a member of the squad that competed in the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France. ​

Tributes have poured in from fans and former teammates. Legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon expressed his sorrow, stating, “Jorge was an unforgettable friend and teammate, a constant in a locker room of extraordinary champions. We played and won together in the golden years of a great Parma.” ​

The Colombian Football Federation also mourned his passing, saying, “Bolaño’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and admired him. His legacy as a footballer and coach will live on in the memory of Colombian sport.”
