In a troubling report, Jos Electricity Distribution Company (Jos DisCo) has revealed that over 80 transformers were vandalized and looted within just 10 days.
The company condemned the acts of theft and destruction, noting that these attacks have severely impacted power supply to several communities in the region.
The stolen equipment, which is critical for electricity distribution, has caused significant disruptions, leaving many areas without power and causing extensive financial losses.
Jos DisCo has called on local authorities and the public to be more vigilant and report any suspicious activities in order to prevent further vandalism.
They also expressed frustration over the ongoing issue of transformer theft, which has been a recurring problem in various parts of the country.
The company is working to replace the damaged transformers, but the frequency of these incidents has raised concerns about the safety and sustainability of Nigeria’s power infrastructure.
