A Kano State High Court recently reserved its ruling in a case filed by the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) challenging the withholding of allocations for the 44 local governments in Kano State.
NULGE, along with five other concerned citizens, filed the suit after the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and other institutions delayed the disbursement of these critical funds.
The applicants argue that such delays or withholding of funds would hinder local governance in the state.
On November 6, the court issued a temporary injunction, restraining the CBN, the Accountant-General of the Federation, and the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) from interfering with the disbursement of these funds.
The court adjourned the matter for a later date to rule on the application and any objections from the respondents.
