Justice Sought as Man Arraigned for Kano Market Killing
In Kano, a 24-year-old woman, Hafsat Surajo, has been arraigned for allegedly killing her business partner, Nafiu Hafiz.
The incident reportedly stemmed from a domestic dispute at their shared residence. Hafsat was charged with culpable homicide and an attempted suicide.
During her arraignment at a Kano Magistrate’s Court, she denied the charges. Additionally, her husband, Dayyabu Abdullahi, and another individual, Mallam Adamu, were charged with conspiracy, concealment, and providing false information about the circumstances of Nafiu’s death.
The police investigation revealed inconsistencies in the initial claims about the cause of death, which included allegations of misleading the victim’s family.
All suspects have been remanded in custody pending further proceedings scheduled for January 8, 2024.
