The Kano State Police Command recently arrested a 31-year-old man, Salisu Bala, for impersonating a police officer and extorting money from residents in the Kano metropolis.
Bala was apprehended in Koki Quarters while wearing a fake police uniform.
Investigations revealed that he was neither a police officer nor part of the Police Special Constabulary, but had been masquerading as one to exploit unsuspecting citizens.
The police also recovered four sets of police uniforms from his residence.
The suspect has admitted to his crimes, and the Kano Police Command has assured the public that they will not tolerate impersonation or extortion by anyone pretending to be law enforcement officers.
