Kanye West, now legally known as Ye, has recently shared specific instructions regarding his funeral arrangements. In a series of posts on his official X account, he expressed a desire for an extended, week-long funeral service, featuring daily 10-hour sessions to allow attendees ample time to speak.
He also requested to be embalmed and displayed at his late mother’s residence, with visitors charged an entry fee; the proceeds from this would be used to support and enrich the surrounding community.
This isn’t the first time Ye has contemplated his own funeral in a public forum. In a 2021 interview with artist Tino Sehgal for the culture magazine 032c, he discussed a performance piece titled “The Funeral Rehearsal of Kanye West.”
He described it as “the death of the ego that separates us—it’s the birth of humanity,” suggesting that artists should design their own funeral rehearsals as a form of self-expression.
